Broken Beer Website
Holy IPA!
Hess Brewing is San Diego’s first Nano-Brewery and serves up some incredible beer in a humble building in the industrial park area of Mira Mesa, north of San Diego. My friend and Brewmaster Mike Hess contacted me, he was having problems with his website. The grand opening was in a couple of weeks and one of the problems he was having was the site wasn’t expanding downward as he added important information about the opening, the copy was running over the footer and beyond.
I told him I’d be happy to investigate, along with some liquid fringe benefits.
He agreed.
Looking into the site the entire HTML & CSS structure had to be re-done. It looked as if the original code was output from a visual editor such as Photoshop’s Export for Web or something similar. Parts of the menu weren’t clickable (positioning), the body background and menu image were one piece, the main container couldn’t expand no matter how much copy you entered, and along with other things it was just a big mess.
I rebuilt the code from scratch in both the HTML and CSS. I had to re-slice most of the images, I corrected the positioning issues and cleaned up the code. The site was fixed and most importantly, it looked the same as before. The Grand Opening went on without a hitch, and I was there with my mug.
Cheers.
PS: Hess Brewing’s beers are making quite an impression on the San Diego beer scene – see his website for links to reviews. Word has it that his stout is one of the best, hands-down. Personal fav’s of mine are his IPA’s.
